Has Gordon Brown declared war? Has a President or Prime-Minister been assassinated? Has there been a nuclear holocaust?

No! Far worse!

Tony Blair got a reminder about his water bill – A REMINDER . . . .can you believe it – how terrible!. . . . . AND . . . . this is really too much . . . . Gordon Brown spent £15 . . . that’s FIFTEEN POUNDS in one month on light bulbs. And as for £33 on satellite TV . . . well, what can I say.

For the record a 20 watt low energy light bulb from Tesco’s costs £1.37 which means that Gordon could have bought nearly 11 of them (10.94 to be exact!). But Tesco also sell an 11 watt ‘energy stick’ light bulb which is supposed to last for 15 years – for £2.94 each. Had Gordon spent his £15 on these he would only have been able to buy just over 5 bulbs. Of course, if he went for the environmentally unfriendly, cheapo Tesco Value light bulbs, who knows how many he would have been able to buy.

Anyway, the release of this astounding information is, apparently, the result of a two-year campaign by 2 Sunday newspapers (I don’t know which) under Freedom of Information legislation. Obviously, time well spent! Perhaps Gordon will have to resign!
