A real fire

10 12 2007 - 14:01

I have forgiven my humans for leaving me home alone the other day. I have had nice muddy walks, tasty meals and lots of attention this weekend. Last night was especially great- I got to watch the new Harry Potter film (on DVD at home, they don’t allow dogs in cinemas for some reason) while stretched out on the sofa in front of a blazing fire!

The fire is really good fun. My male human does it (don’t think my female human is clever enough) and he uses lovely little chewy bits of wood and black sooty stuff called coal. The kindling logs and the coal are just the right size to carry around in my mouth and they are both very crunchy and tasty, and leave a lovely mess behind. The fire gives off a lovely heat and I can lie right infront of it and pretend I am sunbathing. Then when I am all warm and cosy I move somewhere cooler- like the dining room- to cool down. Tim commented last night that I was very clever to do that. His former dog, Clemmie, would just lie infront of the fire getting hotter and hotter, panting more and more, till she was forcibly moved by her humans!
