Changing clothes...

It struck me yet again at the weekend just how superior dogs are to humans.
Humans don’t have the basic provision of a fur coat on their skin, so unlike us dogs (and you cats) have to add bits of material to themselves before they can go outside – or be seen in public! I think they are embarrasse at their lack of body hair and so cover up their bare flesh with things called clothes. Mind you, Tim doesn’t have much hair on his head either and he usually doesn’t cover that up. Maybe he can’t decide what style of wig to get!
Anyway I watched my female human the other day and was astounded at the time she wasted putting on and taking off these clothes. That time and energy could be far better spent playing with me!
First she got up in her night wear and put on a dressing gown and shoes, and pottered in the kitchen and took me outside. Shoes are a strange human concept – they have weak feet so have to put these protective covers on, and they seem to need lots of different ones for doing different things. Anyway I digress. Then after dithering around for ages while I waited she went and got dressed in dog walking clothes- pre-muddified jeans ! And we had the usual dither at the door when she put on walking socks, boots, fleece, scarf etc etc as I wait patiently.
On return from our walk she stripped off and put on the dressing gown again and dissappears into the bathroom to shower. I don’t know why the dressing gown doesn’t get wet as the rest of her does, but anyway, after that she gets dressed again in non- muddy clothes.
That seems to be it for a few hours till my next walk, when again she has to change back into muddy trousers, walking boots etc. On return she surprises me and takes the boots off but stays in the clothes a bit longer! I think that was only as she was feeling ridiculous at the amount of changes she was doing. Then she does get changed again, this time into a SKIRT (very unusual for Hilary) as my humans were off out that evening. Yet again I was left behind , but on return noticed she took off all those clothes and out back on the night shirt she had been wearing first thing that moring! She could have stayed in that all day!
What a hassle! It is so much more straightforward being a dog!
