Annoying my female human!

Tonight I got a bit of a surprise as my female human came home from work a bit early! I asked her if we could go for my walk straight away as I was keen to get out while there was still a little bit of day light. Hilary agreed, and thought that if we went straight away we might manage to go round the field before it got dark- which believe me is MUCH more exciting than an on-lead walk I would otherwise have got, in street-lamp lit streets.
So off we set. Hilary was a cold as she hadn’t bothered to put on her usual hat and gloves, but thought she would be fine. Up the road we trotted andin to the fieldbehind our house (yes my female human can finally open the gate!). Off lead and run run run chasing the birds – who all flew away!
It was beginning to get dark as we reached the top of the field but I spot a tennis ball on the ground, that has presumably been left here by a forgetful dog. I have a few games with it, and let Hilary have a few throws too.
Soon we reach the gate again and Hilary calls me, expecting me to come straight to her and get my lead on. Ok, I sometimes do that, but not today! I wanted to play with my new toy! So I kept running away and ignoring her. She got more and more frustrated and even swore at me. That is abuse- I am reporting her. She tried lots of silly tactics like shaking the plastic bag she had in her pocket and peering at the ground as if something interesting was there. She even pretended to go away and leave me but I knew she was hiding by the wall.
By this stage it is raining, well sleeting really, and getting darker and darker. Hilary can hardly see me and wishes she had a torch. She is getting increasingly annoyed as she wants to go home!
A car came past and as usual I raced up the field parallel to it giving chase. As usual it beat me. I came back towards the gate and found Hilary had picked up my ball which in my car-chasing excitement I had left on the ground! In my eagerness to get my ball back I came a little too close to her and she managed to grab me and attach my lead. Ok, home time now!
