My male human has been suffering from a dose of severe man flu this week, and it has not been pretty sight- lots of coughing, runny noses, and weakness with aches and pains. Poor Tim. I have tried to give him lots of sympathy and take him for nice walks in the fresh air but he just seems to moan that it is raining all the time and he is cold!

Anyway he seems to be on the mend now, which is a shame in a way as I have just discovered a useful website that would have helped him recover much faster. It is manflu.org.uk and on it there are lots of tips for the man flu sufferer and their carers (all geared at humans rather than dogs, mind you) There is even a letter with emergency shopping needs and requests that the ill man can send or email off to his partner! Tim- you might find this useful for Hilary next time so she knows what to do to support you!

Additionally when you get home please could you do the following for me:

Visit me in bed every – 10/15/30 minutes/as required
Keep the kettle constantly on the verge of boiling and bring me a drink every 10/15/30 minutes/as required
Cook for the entirety of my illness and clean up after me
Look into my eyes sypathetically and remind me that it will get better but not to worry myself about anything as you will take care of me
Phone into work and tell them I am very ill and unable to attend and that ‘in all the time that I have know ___________I have never seen him like this’.
If the TV is off and not on standby in the bedroom, can you switch it on for me when requested.
no matter how angry you are, never show it in front of me (please refer to the carers factsheet to find out why)
bring my laptop up to the bedroom, and arrange wifi access if we haven’t already got it.
