Humans lack patience

Sometimes I despair of my humans. They are so impatient and don’t seem to take time to enjoy the finer things in life. Take yesterday for example. Hilary had been out all afternoon so when she was finally ready for my walk is was dark. That means, as regular readers will know, an on-lead walk on the streets rather than a proper of lead country walk! (as according to Hilary is is too dangerous to be away from the streetlights!)
Anyway off we set and I was concerned that Hilary hadn’t even bothered to change into her walking boots. I deduced that meant an even shorter walk than usual, so I was determined to make the most of it. As any dog will know that means enjoying all the smells and sights and exploring as we walked!
But that human! She seemed to just want to march on and not stop to savour the aromas and investigate the ground! Several times she pulled me on urging me to “come on Max”. And, at one point she got very desperate and actually shouted at me “Max this is a walk! Not a smell”. Hmm. I think she needs to chill out more, maybe it is because her nose is higher off the ground than mine so she doesnt appreciate all the delicous smells on the ground. Next time, I will try and pull her over so she has to crawl along with me! That will slow us down nicely!
