Bye bye old kitchen!

Great excitement here yesterday afternoon.
My female human was relaxing in the living room (actually she was blubbering over a particularly sad episode of Corrie she was watching) and I was snoozing away, when I heard a noise outside! A van was coming up our drive and reversing up the side of the house! the cheek of it! Intruders! Off to steal our things!
I barked furiously and ran to the window in the diningroom at the side of the house to get a better view. My female human dried her eyes and came to see what was going on. She recognised the driver as being Stuart, one of our church wardens, so reassured me all was well.
It turned out that it was the two church wardens here, with a van, to remove the old kitchen and take it away (so I was partly right – they were making off with things!) But only the LARGE pile of old units, sink, fridge, and various bits and pieces including some parts of the old AGA cooker that have been languishing at the back of our house since last November when the new kitchen was installed!
Myself and Hilary supervised (well she helped a little bit, I think I just got in their way) and Monty watched avidly as his little hideyhole was dismantled. And off they went to the dump!
Hilary set about getting rid of the smaller items including some small bits of wood, plaster, and bits of lino I hadn’t chewed as a pup , and managed to fill both our wheelie bins by the time the van came back for the second load! Peter had brought a saw to saw up an old shelf that was too big to get in the van, assisted by his wife Kate, as Hilary and I watched yet again. This time Monty had gained in confidence and jumped into the van and clambered over everything to get a good look. I was most relieved when he came out safe as annoying though he can be, I didn’t want him taken off to the tip!
It was hard word getting the big things broken up and taken away, and the AGA front was really heavy- took the three of them to get it in the van. Then they went away.
Ten minutes later Tim came home – so he missed all the hard work!
