Winning Tim over!

Regular readers will remember that my new year’s resolution was to sleep on a human bed. All night. Surely the comfort that a distinguished dog like me deserves?
I told you a few months ago that Monty was managing this more than me, with regular visits to the bedroom with Hilary when she goes to bed, for some bed-mice chasing and then a comfy snooze. Monty seems to be doing this more now, although true to her word Hilary hasn’t actually carried Monty into the bedroom – he has to come of his own choice and of course negotiate me who often blocks his path! Any a few nights ago Monty had been unable to make the journey from his safe sanctuary room at the rear of the house to the bedroom off the front landing where Hilary was – mainly due to me lying in wait at the top of the stairs for him!
So Hilary went to bed alone. A little while later Tim came upstairs to say goodnight (he goes to bed at least two or three hours later) and I heard Hilary whine that Monty wasn’t with her. I thought my sensible male human would be delighted but oh no, he seems to be getting soft in his old age and actually went and got Monty and carried him through to Hilary! Monty is well in there- soon he will be allowed to stay all night and not be banished from the room when Tim finally turns in!
Then, the other morning Tim was still in bed when Hilary was leaving for work. She came in to say goodbye to him and didn’t shut the door properly, so of course I took full advantage of this to enter the room and help wake Tim up. After all he might have forgotton about me and the nice long muddy walk we were going on!
Hilary apologised for letting me in and offered to remove me from the room as she was leaving, but, much to my surprise Tim said it was fine and I could stay there! Hilary was so flabbergasted she rushed off to get the camera and capture the scene! I tried to be as good as possible and settle on the bed (which smelt of cat) but it was hard not moving around.Still, I am sure Tim enjoyed my company so much it will soon become a regular occurance.
And to think not long ago Tim declared that no pets were allowed in the bedroom- far less on the bed!
