In the garden!

I had a brilliant afternoon! My humans decided as it was sunny that they would let me have the run of the garden this afternoon, which is very very unusual. First they tied up the gate beside the church so I couldn’t run on to the road and chase the cars. Then they checked there were still no sheep in the field behind the house- and then FREEDOM!!!
It was fantastic! I could run around, explore, chase things, chew bits of wood, play with my ball , sniff to my heart’s content, and spend time with my humans as of course they had to stay near me and keep an eye on me!
The main activity for the humans was car washing. This was very important as much to my surprise they have just bought a new car! Yes- they went to the garage to look at cars yesterday, saying that whatever they did they wouldn’t buy one that day- and came back with it all signed and sealed (well, signed anyway).
They realised that Hilary’s current car – a 1999 Ford Ka – was not going to survive the commute from Dunfermline to Dundee after their move, and wanted something bigger and safer! So they have bought a Nissan Almira Tino, which is six years old, pale green in colour, and has, by all acccounts, a HUGE boot space for me. That was one of their prime considerations! Anyway I haven’t seen the new car yet but we get it on Tuesday and I am really looking forward to seeing Hilary try and park an estate car!!!!
Anyway that means that Katya, which is Hilary’s little blue car, is being traded in on Tuesday so had to be all cleaned up today. So Hilary washed it and then cleaned out all the stuff inside. Then Tim cleaned his car. I helped supervise him doing this! He had been going to cut the grass which is getting rather long (the church gardener used to do it but he has retired) but Tim found the church lawnmower (that he had planned to use) was not actually usable! So long grass it is then!
My humans also then cleared out some of the storage areas at back of the house in preparation for the move. The thing is when you have a lot of space you hoard everything! So Hilary binned lots of old things and rubbish that was lying arund there to make the full use of having two wheelie bins collected weekly here!
Later the humans set up the garden furniture and relaxed with a drink and the papers (and the cricket on the radio for Tim of course). Then Hilary went to make the tea and I had a wee escape into the field- which caused my humans a few minutes of panic trying to find me! The field was lovely but I couldn’t get back up to the garden again- eventually Hilary spotted me (I came when she called , actually) and got Tim to jump down and lift me up!
All in all a great afternoon!
