Did anyone else watch ‘Send in the Dogs’ last night? It was on ITV and was the first of a series of 4 programmes (8 pm on Tuesdays if you’re interested).

I thought it was rather splendid. It was all about Police dogs and their handlers. There were some very impressive dogs, including spaniels called Diesel and Vinnie who sought out drugs on the streets and on people, Blue ( a 6 year old GSD like me) who could abseil attached to a harness under his handler, and some Belgian shepherds who were trained to catch people and find things recently touched by human hands. Clare liked Diesel as he was also trained to sniff out money & found some at the cash machine. She thinks that over the next couple of weeks she might train me to do this too.

I was very impressed by all the dogs, and their handlers, although I don’t know if I’d do too well if I worked with Diesel and Vinnie’s female human. She gave them lots of playtime but when they were working they had to find something before they got given their ball to play with. I’m not sure about that. As superior beings we should be allowed to play ball whenever we like!
