A very hungry cat

17 07 2008 - 10:50

Young Monty’s been a dirty stop out, only being in at bedtime on one of the three nights that Clare’s been here. Unlike Hilary, Clare doesn’t really mind if he goes out at night as he’s usually been in for a sleep in the daytime and she knows that he’s alright. Night is also prime hunting time.

Last night wasn’t quite as mild as previous nights so we did look for Monty – Clare called for him and I sniffed around – but to no avail. The wind was getting up at bedtime and Clare was worried that it might rain. Sure enough it did, so I got her up at 5 am to go out and look for Monty again. I found him in the garage where he must have been sheltering.

For the first time this week, he was starving! He didn’t even have the good manners to wait until Clare had filled his dish before getting stuck in, climbing up and eating from it as she filled it. I guess the rain must have stopped his night kill from coming out. He’s not been hungry any other time.

Anyway, he’s off out again and I’m now going to be shut in the kitchen as I’m very wet after my walk.
